This video is a
clip of a leaf dessicating in the EM chamber (in ESEM
mode).
The beginning shows
what is seen in ESEM. The end approximates what
would be seen in SEM.
Note the tremendous
advantage of ESEM over SEM in hydrated samples. (the
beginning shows true surface characteristics..the
end is completely shriveled up due to vacuum effects)
